RUSSELL MOORE

Executive Chairman

B. SC. Eng. (Mech), Pr. Eng., B.Com, M.B.L.

Russell Moore was educated at St Andrews College, Grahamstown before going on to study mechanical engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand.

After five years in industry he was appointed Marketing Manager at Howden’s Attack Engineering in 1978. During those years he completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree and later went on to earn a Master’s degree in Business Leadership.

He left the Howden Group in 1980 to take up a partnership in AMS Project Management Consultants.

In 1982 he founded the Tech Edge Group, which merged with Winches & Winders (Pty) Ltd in 1992.

In the intervening years, Russell has focused on expanding the technical expertise of the group. Through the acquisition of a specialist hydraulic engineering company with ground support expertise Tech Edge is now a specialist supplier to the aerospace industry, and is forging ahead with innovative new winding projects for the mining industry, both locally and abroad. Special projects include winding solutions for the hydro-electric industry and ship to shore loading,

Russell’s maxim is to ensure that the Tech Edge Group is big enough to offer the most up to date and professional engineering solutions, while being small enough to care about its customers, and the safety of all who use Tech Edge equipment.

Bannister Erasmus

Managing Director

B.Sc. Mech Eng, Pr.Eng., PPM (PM Institute USA).

Bannister joined Winches & Winders in June 2004 as a junior design engineer. He enjoyed the wide exposure which he received to all stages of engineering projects, from design and hydraulic fault finding to mechanical maintenance, winder audits, through to manufacturing and installations on site.

Bannister displayed his gifts for design, manufacturing and winder fabrication management, coupled with later experience in multi-disciplinary project management, and rose to become Engineering Manager. Popular with his colleagues and staff, as well as with our customers, he was successful in ensuring the best quality, and timeous performance possible.

While with DRA Consulting from 2010 to 2013, Bannister built up wide-ranging experience covering all types of winder installations, dealing on multiple levels with mining houses in Africa and internationally. He returned to the Tech Edge Group in 2013, and has contributed enormously through his dedication to our customers. His ethic of hard, innovative work and dedication to team building are pivotal to his success both as a leader and in upholding the very finest engineering practices.

He is a Member of the South African Institute of Mechanical Engineering.

BArbara Moore

Financial Director

B.Com.

Having travelled extensively and worked with Management Consultants in London before returning to her home town, Cape Town, Barbara started her own business there. Barbara sold the business when she moved to Johannesburg in 1978. After working in corporate marketing and administration, she started a business in 1982, which was franchised and very successful.

After selling the business in 1994, Barbara became Commercial & Financial Director at Winches & Winders, where she manages the financial health of the company, and her team provides support throughout the organisation in line with the vision, mission and values of the Tech Edge Group. Her goals include high levels of performance, strict internal governance, and effective support across the whole group, to ensure that customers get the very finest service and products.

Johan Steyn

Engineering Manager

B.Sc. Mech. Eng., Pr. Eng.

Johan is a mechanical engineer with many years of project and design experience, specialising in the design of static and dynamic equipment in accordance with multiple code requirements. He ensures great attention to detail throughout every project, applying his extensive knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods as well as strict application of quality management.

Johan enjoys a solid reputation with colleagues and customers for his high standards and ready co-operation, while maintaining uncompromising excellence in delivering on Tech Edge’s projects.

He hones his architectural and practical skills through home renovation projects while spending quality time with his wife and daughter.

Cynthia Nyembe

Director - Supply Chain Management

Cynthia Nyembe has been a star player in our Tech Edge team since June 2004. In that time Cynthia has gone from strength to strength, improving her skill set by study and achievement. Her attitude of “how can I help you today?” and quiet competence has made her first a popular colleague and then a trusted manager.

Tech Edge is proud to have Cynthia as a director, serving both the company and its most precious assets – our workforce.

Cynthia is a mother of two, both currently in tertiary education. She enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
